Across the Waikato, 9 Trees for Survival facilitators are packing away their planting gear after a successful and busy 2026 planting season. Working with schools across 11 Waikato districts, these 9 facilitators supported delivery of the TfS programme to 57 schools and are celebrating the 1,800 students who grew and planted over 42,029 native plants! Schools running the TfS programme in the Waikato range from very small rural primary schools to large secondary schools – all connecting with and contributing to their environment. Facilitators have enjoyed reconnecting with existing landowners and sharing established sites with new groups of students and also establishing relationships with new, first time schools and landowners. A huge thank you to all the partners who have helped enable this positive work.
