Trees for Survival (TFS) is a Charitable Trust committed to protecting the privacy of the individuals we work with, including students, teachers, volunteers, landowners, partners, and donors (sponsors).

We collect personal information that is necessary for the functions and activities of the Trees for Survival programme.

To select and manage planting sites, coordinate access, and monitor planting success.

Partners & Donors

Name, contact details, donation amount, payment information (usually held by a secure third-party processor).

To process donations/sponsorships, issue receipts, and communicate about the impact of the contribution.

Volunteers

Name, contact details, and relevant skills/availability.

To manage volunteer efforts for planting days and programme support.

Website Visitors (Automatically)

IP address, browser type, cookies, and website usage data (via analytics).

To improve the website, monitor its performance, and analyse user trends.

Important Note (IPP 3): When collecting information directly from you, we will ensure you are aware of the fact of collection, the purpose for which it is being collected, and your rights to access and correct it.

  • TFS Staff and Regional Facilitators: To enable the day-to-day operation and coordination of the programme (e.g., connecting a school with a landowner).

  • Programme Partners: Information may be shared with our partners, such as Rotary Clubs or Regional Councils, to coordinate their support for specific schools or planting projects.

  • Third-Party Service Providers: Such as email providers, website hosting services, or payment processors (for donations). These parties are required to protect your information by using reasonable security safeguards.

  • Legal Compliance: Where required by the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 or any other applicable law.

We do not sell or rent your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.

4. Storage, Security, and Retention
