Update from the National Manager, Don Roa

Back to Te Māra a Tāne.

Trees for Survival welcomes Accor Hotels as our first Gold Sponsor and acknowledges their environmental focus as highlighted in their Planet 21, Plant for the Planet programme.

TfS schools are closing in on their last planting days which should, weather permitting, be completed by September. I marvel at the coordination, support, commitment and participation from many sectors including schools, parents, councils, sponsors, community and landowners, and acknowledge with gratitude the good work done by so many to ensure that the trees grown by our TfS schools are planted in appropriate places.

Spring offers the opportunity to ensure new schools are up and running for the New Year. Demand is increasing, especially in the Waikato and the Wellington regions, along with some activity in the South Island. An opportunity to engage Christchurch schools in the TfS programme is appealing since it allows the children to have an environmental participation in the future developments of the Garden City.

Finally, schools are always looking for sponsors to enable them to join and participate in the TfS programme. If through your networks and associations you know of a group or organisation willing to sponsor a school, please ask them to contact us to discuss opportunities.
