Ben is a consultant in the Climate Change and Sustainability Services team at EY and is also the Director of the not for profit ‘Unmask Palm Oil’, a campaign for mandatory labelling of palm oil.

As a former student of the Trees for Survival programme, Ben brings a student’s perspective to the table.

Bill Boyd is a Past President of Rotary International and currently serves as a Trustee of the Rotary Foundation.

He brings business and humanitarian experience to the Trees for Survival Trust Board.

Don Bowater

Don has owned his own business for more than 20 years. He was involved with the formation of Trees for Survival and is the Immediate Past Chairman. Don has been a Rotarian since 1983 and is passionate in the objectives of Trees for Survival.

Geoff Shapland

Geoff Shapland

Job Position

An early interest in trees was kindled by Geoff’s father George who, as a member of the Forest and Bird Society, planted seedlings around the Hutt Valley and in particular on Somes Island.

Geoff’s career brought him to Auckland where he established a plastic injection moulding company specialising in funeral accessories.

As a Pakuranga Rotarian, Geoff joined Trees for Survival at its inception and for many years has stored and delivered potting mix and seedlings to many Trees for Survival schools.

Since retiring he has enjoyed his involvement as a Trustee.

Geoff is a very keen gardener, plays tennis and coaches sailing.

Graeme Houston

Graeme works in event management and financial services. His education involvement has been through school boards (including 12 years as chairman of Manurewa High School) and as a Rotarian for over 25 years. Other activities include being a Marriage and Funeral Celebrant and having an active interest in sports and recreation.

Peter Taylor

Peter Taylor

Job Position

Peter is a trained mechanical engineer, working at the DSIR and Fletchers before starting his own roll forming company in 1983.

He has been a Rotarian since 1984 and was President of the Rotary Club of Pakuranga in 1991-92. Being a strong believer in conservation, Peter has remained with the Tress for Survival programme since its inception, and his company provides the manager with office space.
